From the same Proto-Algic root as Yurok ʔnechkah, 'ne-chkah (my foot) and Wiyot čkač (leg). Literally his leg. The root /hikat/ is a bound or dependent lemma, only appearing in compounds with affixes. /w/ metathesizes with root-initial /h/.
