   auglīga ieleja ― fertile valley

   doties pa nogāze uz ieleju ― to go along the slope to the valley

   šķērsot ieleju ― to cross the valley

   ciems atradās augstienē, un ielejā kā nomesta josta locījās maza upīte ― the village is located in the highland, and in the valey a small river meandered like a belt thrown (down there)
