Causative of inmek, inherited from Ottoman Turkish ایندرمك (indirmek),[1] from Ottoman Turkish اینمك (inmek, to descend, to fall down, to alight), from Proto-Turkic *ēn- (to go down),[2][3] morphologically in- +‎ -dir (causative mood) +‎ -mek
