Tocharian B

Etymology

From Proto-Tocharian *kātsān (whence also Tocharian A kāts). Further origin uncertain; most likely from a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *gʷet- (“swelling, rounding; stomach, gut”), in which case cognate with Old English cwiþ (“pregnant”). Also possibly from a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *kuHtís (“skin, hide; pouch, sac”), and in that case related to Tocharian A kāc (“skin”).
