Macanese

Etymology

Almost certainly borrowed from Japanese 餅 (mochi). Unclear whether alteration of the first vowel may have been influenced by Okinawan 餅 (mūchī) and/or a dialectal form in Japanese, or it may have happened internally in Macanese; compare fucinho and Portuguese focinho (“snout”).
