Inherited from Ottoman Turkish مجادله ایتمك (mücādele itmek, etmek, to dispute, to contend),[1][2] from مجادله (mücādele), equivalent to compound of mücadele (dispute, struggle, fight) +‎ etmek (to do, to make).[3]
