narizón
Spanish
editEtymology
editPronunciation
edit- IPA(key): (Spain) /naɾiˈθon/ [na.ɾiˈθõn]
- IPA(key): (Latin America, Philippines) /naɾiˈson/ [na.ɾiˈsõn]
- Rhymes: -on
- Syllabification: na‧ri‧zón
Adjective
editnarizón (feminine narizona, masculine plural narizones, feminine plural narizonas)
Usage notes
edit- Because of phonetic similarity between the feminine singular form and Arizona (when preceded by a word ending with /n/), this second is used sometimes in Mexico to "disguise" the adjective, in phrases like nació en Arizona (“((s)he) was born in Arizona”) or nacido en Arizona (“born in Arizona”) to mean "that person has a big nose".
