From Proto-Germanic *uzlugi-, from Proto-Germanic *uz- (out) + *lugi-, a derivative of *leuganą (to lie, tell a lie). Akin to Old Frisian orloch, Old Saxon urlogi, Old High German urluogi, urliugi (war), Dutch oorlog (war), Old English lēogan (to lie).
