Ultimately from modern Latin ornithologia, coined by Ulisse Aldrovandi from Ancient Greek ὀρνιθολόγος (ornithológos),[1] from ὄρνις (órnis) and λόγος (lógos) with the suffix -ία (-ía) (Latvian -ija).
