Etymology edit

From Ottoman Turkish سورچمك (sürçmek, to slip, stumble), from Proto-Turkic [Term?]. According to Clauson there can hardly be an etymological connection to sürmek (to rub) or sürtmek.[1] Cognate to Karakhanid [script needed] (sürçmēk, to stumble), Chagatai [script needed] (sürçmek, to slip, stumble), Kipchak [Arabic needed] (süçre-, to stumble).
