1. In Poland, a castle and domain conferred on a nobleman for life.
   • 1752, Jenkin Thomas Philipps, The Fundamental Laws and Constitutions of Seven Potent Kingdoms and States in Europe:

     where any Military Starosty is annex'd to any Dignity, we shall not bestow another such Starosty to any Person, neither in this nor any other Palatinate
