Usage notes

edit

There's no standard declension to this term, the one presented in the table is only one possibility. It might be disputed on the basis that the spelling /ˈst̪ript̪iːs/ would be pronounced with front vowel harmony (ä's instead of a's), but this is the way it seems to be mostly used in the printed sources available. In fact, in this model the inflected forms are written as if the word were pronounced as /ˈst̪ripˑt̪eˑaˑse/, which is hardly ever used in speech. When inflected, the word striptease is sometimes substituted in text with striptease-tanssi, striptease-esitys etc. in order to make the word inflectable as a regular word. Another way to avoid inflection problems is to use the terms strippaus or strippi for the act.
