Etymology edit

Probably inherited from Arabic تَعْرِيب (taʕrīb), though it might have been re-formed independently at some point; compare how Arabic itself freely builds تَتْرِيك (tatrīk, turkification), تَرْوِيس (tarwīs, russification), etc. The use in linguistics is a recent semantic loan from Arabic. Otherwise, derived verbal noun of għarrab.
