Etymology edit

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish تعقیب ایتمك (tʿaḳib itmek, etmek),[1][2] from Arabic تَعْقِيب (taʕqīb), verbal noun of عَقَّبَ (ʕaqqaba, to follow, to succeed),[3] equivalent to takip (pursuit, follow-up) +‎ etmek (to do, to make).
