Etymology edit

Originally meant "room, buiding, home", from Proto-Celtic *trebā, from Proto-Indo-European *treb-. Doublet of tref (town).

  4. (religion) providence (usually with the definite article)
    Synonym: rhagluniaeth
    diolch i'r drefnprovidentially (lit. "thanks to the providence")
