Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish اوزامق (uzamak, to stretch; grow longer, extend), from Proto-Turkic *uŕa- (to be long, prolonged).

Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (uza-, to be long), Bashkir оҙайыу (oźayıw, to extend), Southern Altai уза- (uza-).
