vekni

editEtymology
editFirst attested in 1866. Borrowed from Bavarian wegken,[1] from Middle High German wecke, from Old High German wecki, weggi, from Proto-Germanic *wagjaz, from Proto-Indo-European *weǵʰ-. Suffixed with -i to resolve the word-final consonant cluster, compare cetli from Bavarian zettl or German Zettel (/ˈt͡sɛtl̩/) etc.[2]
