Etymology

Uncertain; possibly from z- +‎ vântura, or from a Vulgar Latin *exventulāre, from *ventulāre, from Latin ventilāre. Cf. Aromanian azvimtur, azvimturari, Megleno-Romanian izvintur, izvinturari (both of which, however, have senses corresponding more closely to Romanian vântura instead).
