editA z-prefixed form of varrë, from Proto-Albanian *varsa, from Proto-Indo-European *wers- (“to drag on the ground”). Compare Hittite [Term?] (/u̯arš-/, “pluck, reap”), Ancient Greek ἔρρω (érrhō, “to move slowly, limp; go away, disappear”), Latin verrō (“to drag, to sweep”), Old Norse vǫrr (“stroke”), Latvian vârsms (“heap of corn, grain”).[1]
