ők
HungarianEdit
PronunciationEdit
PronounEdit
ők
- they (a group of people previously mentioned)
- (only in inflected forms, in unstressed position) they (a group of animals, plants, or things previously mentioned)
- Hol vannak a tollaim? Sehol sem találom őket. ― Where are my pens? I can’t find them anywhere.
- Synonym: (in stressed position or in the nominative) azok
DeclensionEdit
Derived termsEdit
Note that derived forms of ők use only “ő” as the first component; it is only the ending that marks the plural form (e.g. őalattuk (“under them”) as opposed to őalatta (“under him/her”), or ővelük (“with them”) as opposed to ővele (“with him/her”)). In all these forms, ő is optional and only serves for emphasis.
- őalattuk, őáltaluk, őelőttük etc. (ő[k] + a postposition with the third-person plural personal suffix; see Appendix:Hungarian postpositions)
- őnekik, ővelük, őhozzájuk etc. (ő[k] + one of the declined forms listed in the chart above; see Appendix:Hungarian pronouns)
