Etymology edit

From βοηθόος, βοηθός (boēthós) < βοή f (boḗ, shout) + θόος (thóos, quick) from θέω (théō, run). As in the phrase ἐπί βοήν θέω (epí boḗn théō, run to a cry for aid). Similar sense at βοηδρομέω (boēdroméō).
