Learned borrowing from Koine Greek διασφαλίζομαι (diasphalízomai), from which the active voice is back-formed as per ασφαλίζω (asfalízo).[1] By surface analysis, δι- (di-, from δια- (dia-)) +‎ ασφαλίζω (asfalízo).
