Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ἐπανα- (epana-) from prepositions ἐπ(ί) (ep(í)) + ἀνά (aná). By surface analysis, επ- (ep-) +‎ ανα- (ana-),[1] but the meaning is always used idiomatically.
