Etymology

edit

The formation is similar to κάκκαβος (kákkabos), κόλλαβος (kóllabos) and σίττυβος (síttubos). Perhaps from κάννα (kánna, reed), if properly a reed frame. However, given the variation "ν/νν", the word would be Pre-Greek.
