Etymology

Either inherited from Byzantine Greek or learned borrowing from Koine Greek πείραμα (peírama, result of experience), from Ancient Greek πειρῶμαι (peirômai) +‎ -μα (-ma) (see Ancient Greek πειρᾰ́ω (peiráō)), with semantic loan from English experiment.[1]
