Learned borrowing from Koine Greek σῠντονίᾱ (suntoníā, harmony (of sounds; (ancient) intensity) + -ίζω (-ízo), with semantic loan from German abstimmen ((reflexive) to synchronize).[1]

For the "syntonize" meaning, reborrowing and semantic loan from French syntoniser.
