τύβαρις
Ancient Greek edit
Etymology edit
Unexplained. Neumann argues against a connection with the toponym Σύβαρις (Súbaris) and instead, hesitantly, proposes to connect the word with Luwian [script needed] (tuwarsa, “vine”), whence also θύρσος (thúrsos, “thyrsus”). However, Furnée remains sceptical.
