Etymology edit
Either from Greek καίω (kaío, “to burn”) and αυγά (avgá, “eggs”)[1] or borrowed from Ottoman Turkish قایغنه (kayğana), from Classical Persian خاگینه (xāgīna).[1] Compare Serbo-Croatian ка̏јгана/kȁjgana.
