Etymology edit
From кря́кам (krjákam, “to screech, to croack”) + -ка (-ka), one of the three characteristic cries of shrikes (the other two being peeping and chirping). Compare Russian кря́ква (krjákva, “mallard duck”), Ukrainian кря́чка (krjáčka, “frog”) (dialectal).
