  1. have to, must, should [with infinitive]
    Я павінен плаціць арэнду, інакш мяне выселяць.
    Ja pavinjen placicʹ arendu, inakš mjanje vysjeljacʹ.
    I have to pay the rent or I will be evicted.
  2. (rare) obligated, owe [with dative ‘to somebody’]
