Appears cognate with Macedonian трезор (trezor) and Serbo-Croatian трезор, in which case from German Tresor (safe, vault), through French treasure, and hence from Latin thēsaurus (Ancient Greek θησαυρός (thēsaurós)). Through this etymological line, also cognate with English treasure and thesaurus.
