Possibly хроп(ти́) (xrop(tý)) +‎ -і́ти (-íty), from Proto-Slavic *xropti.[1] Compare *xrapěti, whence Russian храпе́ть (xrapétʹ), and *xrapati, whence Polish chrapać.
