Etymology edit

From Proto-Indo-European *sHdʰ-yo- or *seh₂dʰ-yo- (successful); cognates include Sanskrit साध्य (sādhyá), साधु (sādhú, straight, right), Avestan 𐬵𐬁𐬛𐬭𐬋𐬫𐬁 (hādrōyā, desire to achieve the goal), perhaps also Ancient Greek ἰθύς (ithús).[1][2][3]
