Etymology

edit

A dialectal word, that has entered the literary language. According to Ačaṙyan, from Old Armenian *դարսեմ (*darsem) (compare դասեմ (dasem)), from *դարս (*dars), the supposed older form դաս (das).[1] However, the Iranian source of դաս (das) did not contain an -r-. The Karadagh form դարս (dars, lesson) cited by Ačaṙyan, is probably borrowed from a descendant of Arabic دَرْس (dars, lesson).
