Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰel- (to swell) + -որ (-or). Cognate with Old Norse bǫllr (ball, testicle), Sanskrit बुलि (buli, buttocks; vulva). Related to բոլոր (bolor), պուպուլ (pupul), պլլիկ (pllik).
