From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (tyšnk' /tišnag/), from Old Persian, from Proto-Iranian *tŕ̥šnakah, from Proto-Iranian *tŕ̥šnah, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *tŕ̥šnas, from Proto-Indo-European *tr̥s-nó-s, from *ters- (“dry”).
