Cognate with Avestan 𐬙𐬀𐬭𐬱𐬥𐬀(taršna), Persian تشنه(tešne), Ancient Greek τέρσομαι (térsomai), Latin terra, Old Armenian թառամիմ (tʿaṙamim, I wither), Old English þurst (whence English thirst).
