Borrowed from Greek τάκος (tákos, chock, wedge), a word that is probably related to Italian tacco (heel of a shoe).

طاقوز (takoz) (definite accusative طاقوزی (takozu), plural طاقوزلر (takozlar))

  1. billet, a short piece of wood, especially one used as firewood on open hearth fires
  2. wedge, one of the simple machines used for splitting, tightening, securing, or levering
    Synonym: قامه (kama)
  3. chock, any object used as a wedge or filler, especially when placed behind a wheel
  4. cleat, a strip of wood or iron fastened on to something in order to hold position
