Etymology 2

Borrowed from Arabic ـِينَ (-īna, genitive/accusative plural suffix). The case distinction, which is alien to Modern Persian, was lost, but the Arabic nominative form ـُونَ (-ūna) came to be used with nisba nouns for euphonic reasons.
