From original کهرمان (kahramân), from a dialectal form of Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kʾlplmʾn /⁠kārframān⁠/, overseer, manager), from Old Median *karhramāna-. The form with initial q- by association with Arabic قَهْر (qahr, conquest, subjugation, violence, wrath).
