From Aramaic חוֹחַא (ḥōḥā, “thornbush”); compare Classical Syriac ܚܚܐ (ḥaḥḥā, “plum”), Arabic خَوْخ (ḵawḵ, “peach”) and Hebrew חוֹחַ (khóakh, “golden thistle”).
