Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘌𑘽𑘐𑘯 (oṃgaḷa), 𑘪𑘻𑘽𑘐𑘯 (voṃgaḷa), from Sanskrit अमङ्गल (amaṅgala). Doublet of अमंगळ (amaṅgaḷ). Cognate with Varhadi वंगय (vaṅgay), Pali amaṅgala.
