Inherited from Sanskrit *कियत्त (kiyatta), variant of Sanskrit कियत् (kíyat), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kíHant, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷíh₂-onts, from *kʷíh₂, neuter of *kʷís. Cognate with Ashkun ćīt, Waigali kiti, Avestan 𐬗𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬧𐬙 (cuuaṇt), Latin quantum.
