Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀥𑀽𑀫 (dhūma) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit धूम (dhūmá), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰuHmás, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰuh₂mós (“smoke”). Doublet of धूम (dhūm), a tatsama. Cognate with Bengali ধোঁয়া (dhō̃ẇa)
