Borrowed from Classical Persian نظر (nazar), from Arabic نَظَر (naẓar). Cognate with Assamese নজৰ (nozor), Odia ନଜର (najara), Maithili नजरि (najᵊrɨ), Hindustani نظر / नज़र (nazar), Nepali नजर (najar), Punjabi ਨਜ਼ਰ (nazar), Sindhi نَظَرَ (nazara), Gujarati નજર (najar), Marathi नजर (najar).
