Etymology edit

Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀫𑀚𑁆𑀛 (majjha), from Sanskrit মধ্য (mádhya), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *mádʰyas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *mádʰyas, from Proto-Indo-European *médʰyos (middle). Cognate with Sylheti ꠝꠣꠏ (mazó) and Assamese মাজ (maz). Doublet of মধ্য (moddho), মিঞা (mĩa), and ময়দান (moẏdan).
