Borrowed from Sanskrit कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *kr̥ṣnás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kr̥šnás, from Proto-Indo-European *kr̥snós (black). Doublet of કનૈયો (kanaiyo), કાનો (kāno), કનાઇ (kanāi), and કાનુડો (kānuḍo).
