From Proto-Lolo-Burmese *dəw¹ (short), from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *dəw (short). Cognate with Mizo [Term?] (tawi, idem) and perhaps Old Chinese (OC *toːnʔ, “idem”); see the Chinese for more (STEDT).
