From Jurchen 木克 (mu-ke /muke/), from Proto-Tungusic *mū, which often compared with Mongolian мөрөн (mörön, river), Korean (mul, water), Goguryeo (*me, river; water) and Japanese (mizu, water).. Cognate with Evenki мӯ (), Even мӯ (), Oroqen mu꞉, Negidal мӯ, Oroch мӯ, Orok мӯ.
