    From ἐκ (ek, out), formed on the model of ἐντός (entós, within, inside).[1] Cognate with Old Irish acht (but, provided that), Gothic 𐌰𐌹𐌸𐌸𐌰𐌿 (aiþþau, or, otherwise).
